A bright idea
Hafren switch over to LED light
In a bid to improve efficiency, reduce costs and limit the environmental impact of its business operations Hafren Fasteners has made the switch to LED lighting.
Lighting accounts for 20 per cent of all the energy consumption in the UK*, and can consist of up to 40% of a buildings electricity bill; which means the potential savings to business cannot be overlooked.
The security fasteners experts based in Newtown, Powys have recently switched their internal and external lighting over to LED. Steve Carron (operations manager) who led the project said, “the modernised lighting will help the business make significant energy, cost and CO2 savings while improving the overall working environment, comfort and productivity”.
It is estimated that the new lighting will save the business an incredible 49.14% on its electricity usage and will see a significant carbon saving of 2.04 metric tonnes of C02 & 0.66 metric tonnes of carbon over the next 5 years.
In addition, LED lights have an operating lifespan which can be as much as 8 to 10 times longer than traditional lights and are more eco-friendly, since they contain no mercury, or other harmful gasses. All of which helps reduce the environmental impact of business operations.
