2017 Jeans for Genes Day Charity Appeal
Overdoing it in denim, take 2
Staff at Hafren Fasteners overdo it in denim to help raise money for Jeans for Genes Day charity appeal.
The security fastener experts based in Newtown, Powys joined communities, schools and business across the country in encouraging people to ‘wear jeans, change lives’!
Jeans for Genes Day is an annual fundraising event which takes place in September. The charity raises money for Genetic Disorders UK and aims to change the world for children with genetic disorders.
Individually, genetic disorders are rare but together they affect 1 in 25 children born in the UK - that's more than 30,000 babies each year. Their associated health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children aged 14 years and under.
The event that took place on 22nd September 2017 was the second year in a row that the global security fastener specialists had run an event for this worthy cause. This year’s event saw the whole team supporting the charity by donning denim and taking part in a number of fundraising events, including; a bake off, a penalty shootout, Scalextric competition, KUBB (Viking Skittles) competition and a guess the weight of a cake competition.
We even persuaded our warehouse manager Mike Williams to ‘double denim’ and cycle an epic 50-mile route before starting his shift.
This year’s event has been a great success; so far we have raised £295 and hope to do more, for those that would like to contribute, you still can by donating directly to our JustGiving fundraising page - Click here to read the full story and donate.
JustGiving sends your donation straight to Jeans for Genes Day and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
We would like to give a big thank you to all those that got involved with our charity appeal and look forward to doing it all again in 2018.
Thank you for your support!
